Phoenix, AZ
Howdy,
Being a motorized bike nut, I learned about this forum from paul.
I like to play with alternative energy things. I managed to build a solar panel out of used panels. It runs a video camera, most of the time, charges my cell phone. Last year I even came across outdoor solar Christmas lights, they didn't cost much extra.
I read about how the utilities are gung ho for solar, or at least they say they are, but in practice, all I see is them looking to make a profit and pretending. I think we need to at least make an effort to use alternatives to petroleum where we can. Not just lip service silliness like the "Prius" ventilating system.
I live in North Phoenix, play with AE stuff, try to conserve energy, believe in recycling, wish I had natural gas, used to pedal my bike, think stirling engines are way cool. I want to see every south facing home roof top in phoenix have solar panels installed by APS and SRP with the option for batteries paid for by the owner. Why go out in the desert and cover dirt when you can cover houses?
I am politically as incorrect as I can be and make my own decisions about things. You can find me out by the pool, wasting energy reading actual paper books, using glass instead of paper or plastic.
I have already recovered the cost spent buying "green" grocery bags, it only takes 20 trips to the store to pay for 1 bag, you just need to remind the check out clerk to give you the credit.
