Your post is a bit misleading, you fail to inform the readers just how much it's going to cost to be able to spin their meter backwards.
A PV system is a substantial investment, In order to see real gains, the PV array must be sized to not only handle the sunshine hours usually 6 to 8 depending on your geography, your need to generate enough surplus to recharge the battery bank to cover night time hours, any a surplus that might be available can be used spin the meter backwards. In my case I would need approx 30,000 watts in pv panels. Doing the math a 400 watt panel is around 500- 800 usd as you can see it's not very cost effective to expect to sell energy back to the utility company.
