Hello from the island of Sardinia

Hello everyone, I live on the island of Sardinia ( Italy) where the sun shines all year and we don't do much about it! We have incredible gov. incentives and low interest loans specifically for installing PV panels and still we are not doing enough. Crazy! I recently decided to install a 7.35 kw producing system on my roof, the economical benefits are incredible. The gov. gives me almost 4k Euros every year for 20 years!! This is simply for having PV panels on the roof and of course producing energy. Regardless of my comsumption! Then the power company pays me for the energy I don't use, not much but you can also opt to have credit. We don't use batteries here since the power company allows you to use their energy when your system is not producing and then calculates what you don't use during the day of your own energy. Pretty nice. My system costs 38K euros...after 7 years it will pay for itself!

welcome to the site islander. i am from st croix which is an island in caribbean. wind and solar both popular and like their lots of govt incentives. wind is growing popularity very fast and solar hot water heaters all new constructions must have. glad to have you with us

thanks!! Wish we had the same rules for construction here...someday! I guess I didn't want to start a new thread, kind of new at this... I was on a cruise last March but did not make it to St. Croix, only St. Marten and St. Thomas..beautiful places. Ciao
